Rear extension and raised patio at Bridgewater Road in Berkhamsted.
The project required the demolition of an existing poorly constructed conservatory and construction of a new extension which has been used to enlarge the living area internally. Large areas of glazing provide additional natural light to the lounge and the rear wall has double acting sliding doors to open up the space onto the patio. The existing flat roof to the rear of the house has been removed and a new pitched roof installed which links the existing and new extension.
Due to the steep sloping garden, Sargeant Architects have designed a raised patio area supported by a tiered garden wall which incorporates seating and planting features to soften the impact of the wall from the rear. Glass balustrades provide uninterrupted views of the garden and across the valley to Berkhamsted. The project was completed in Spring 2015.
